About: why this site exists

Money Out of Nothing exists because of two sentences, and everything on the site answers to them: I don't want young people to become debt slaves. I want them to know how the system really works so they can make their own choices.

The gap we are filling

Schools barely teach money, and what does get taught skips the biggest fact of all: most money is created by banks when they lend, which the Bank of England itself confirms. Meanwhile almost every money page a young person finds online was written by a lender or a site paid by lenders. Good information exists; independent information, written for a 16 year old, with the machinery shown and the receipts attached, mostly does not. That is the job.

We are not against banks, and this is not an angry site. You will use a bank all your life, and credit used with open eyes can serve you well. We are against people signing forty-year deals nobody explained, at prices they never checked, designed by professionals who understand the machinery perfectly. The fix for that is not outrage. It is understanding, spread widely, starting young.

What we believe, in four lines

Facts over opinions: our method and red lines live on the receipts page, stated openly. Questions over answers: we show how the machine works and ask who it serves; conclusions are yours. No shame, ever: the traps are engineered, falling into one is not a character flaw, and the way out starts with knowledge, not guilt. Nothing for sale: we recommend no products, take no bank money, and never will.

How the site is funded, with no varnish

Out of our own pocket, plus ordinary advertising from Google, the kind that keeps free sites free. It is done in the open: a consent banner before any advertising cookie, a public ads policy on the privacy page, ad personalisation switched off on every request because this site is written for teenagers, and predatory categories blocked outright: payday loans, gambling, get-rich-quick schemes, crypto promotions. What will never appear, and this is the footer promise on every page: bank sponsorships, pushed products, or affiliate links to credit products. The words are not for sale.

The site also accompanies a book, Money Out of Nothing, in the works now: the same mission at full length. This site is and will remain free either way.

Who is behind it

Nobody, on purpose. The site is written and run independently in the UK, anonymously, with no employer, sponsor or institution behind it, and it will stay that way. That is not evasiveness: it is the method. A named author asks you to trust a person; this site asks you to check a document. It stands on the published work of others, most centrally the Bank of England's own bulletin on money creation and the peer-reviewed research of Professor Richard Werner, and on the primary sources linked from every page. Everything here is falsifiable from its receipts, which is worth more than any name.

For parents and teachers

Every page is written to pass one test: would a head of economics put it in front of a Year 12 class? Sourced claims, official documents, real prices, no products, no politics, no preaching, and free debt help signposted wherever debt is discussed. Read anything here over your young person's shoulder; that is exactly how it was written. The classroom pack is live: three lessons you could teach tomorrow, the whole site mapped to KS3 and KS4 citizenship, and every page already prints as a clean handout with the navigation and adverts stripped out.
